Christmas Eve is an important night for my family. We all attend church together and have our family Christmas. I put together dishes that can be made in advance to cut down on the hustle and bustle. Plus, this is one night I don’t want to spend in the kitchen. I want dishes that are easy, informal and good. The meal is served buffet style.
I prepared all the food early in the day. Swiss and Ham pie, orange slices, grape salad and the tomatoes will be wrapped and kept in the refrigerator. I’ll take the tomatoes out as we are leaving for church and let them come to room temperature. As soon as we arrived back home, I’ll reheat the Swiss and Ham Pies.
I’m happy to share with you our menu for Christmas Eve Supper.
Fresh Orange Slices
Dear Syrup and Biscuits friends,
My family and I wish you all the good blessings of the season. May your hearts be filled with the Spirit and your homes filled with happiness. You have enriched my life more than you can imagine. Your words inspire me and bless me a thousand times a day. We share stories of love, kindness, sweet memories and goodness and hold true to the belief that people are intrinsically good. Sometimes life isn’t kind and the goodness is overshadowed with bitterness and fear, but, we still believe in the basic goodness of people.
Thank you for inviting me into your hearts and your lives. I’m amazed by your generosity and sweet spirit!
There’s always room in my heart and my kitchen for one more. I can’t wait to see what 2012 has in store for us!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Love,
Jackie

Jackie, I can almost picture the whole Christmas Eve celebration! You are richly blessed in so very many ways! Your Christmas Wish left me teary-eyed… seems like I say that to you pretty often! But that’s okay. The tears are because you touch my heart.
I count my blessings quite often these days, and having your friendship is way up there! How blessed we are to be able to communicate across the miles with folks who share our values, beliefs, and ethics. The food connection helps too 🙂
There is no doubt about it – you and yours will have a most beautiful, joyous and blessed Christmas celebration! Thanks for doing all you do and most of all, for being who you are. xoxo

Merry Christmas to you and all your family from the Lee family in North Carolina! I hope you make some beautiful memories to share with us. We enjoy reading your posts so very much!
Merry Christmas, Connie! 🙂
Your menu sounds wonderful. We had our gathering with our kids while at my parents as out oldest daughter has a severe fracture in the back of her leg and is using a wheelchair. One less home she had to get into, therefore we won’t have the kids and their husband/significant other here tomorrow. That’s Ok as it was easier for Jessica. Have a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year. My best to your family. We are going to my daughter’s inlaws’ church program for Christmas Eve.
Merry Christmas, Deb! 🙂
