Perfect for feeding hungry family or houseguests. This make ahead dish parks in your refrigerator overnight and all that needs to be done in the morning is browning it on a griddle or in a pan. I use one loaf of french bread and slice it into eight slices about 3/4 inch thick. Eight slices fit perfectly on a standard sized griddle. The accompaning Orange Sauce is good but the french toast is just as good with some warmed syrup.
8 (3/4 inch slices) French bread
4 eggs
1 cup milk
2 tbsp orange juice or 1/4 tsp orange extract
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp honey
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp salt
butter
Orange Sauce
Place bread in a13X9 pan. Mix next 7 ingredients well, pour over bread. Turn each slice to make they are coated well. Cover and place in refrigerator overnight. To cook: place piece on large griddle or pan and cook in butter on each side until browned – aboiut 4 minutes per side. Serve with Orange Sauce or warmed syrup.
Orange Sauce
1 cup firmly packed sugar
2 tsp grated orange rind
1/2 cup orange juice
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan, stir well. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat, simmer and stir until thickened (about 5 minutes).

It would be really great if there were a feature to print out your wonderful recipes without all the advertisements! Maybe in the future?

Cindy,
I responded to your email but I’ll comment here, too. Having printables for all my recipes is a high priority. That task will be accomplished in the near future. In the meantime, highlight and copy the sections that you want and paste that to a Word document then print your Word document.
I appreciate your feedback. Stay tuned for lots of improvements to the site!
