Homemade Cajun Seasoning is a blend of three kinds of pepper and other authentic Cajun flavors.
Along with everything else in the grocery store, the cost of dry seasoning blends, such as Cajun seasoning, is as high as a cat’s back. It’s not hard to make your own that are customized to your liking and more economical.
The hallmark of Cajun seasoning is a blend of three peppers: black, cayenne and pepper flakes. Some of the prepared blends are insanely hot. By making my own, I control the heat.
Cajun seasoning isn’t just for Cajun food. It’s a good general purpose seasoning for meats and fried vegetables.

I’ve never tried making Cajun seasoning before but the way you describe it, I have no idea why I haven’t done it before. 🙂

Maureen,
I don’t use a great many slice blends but I’m determined to break down the few I do use and make them myself.
