In anticipation of a visit from my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, I bought a bag of little gala apples I thought the kids might enjoy eating. Well, they ate two. The remainder of the bag of apples, coupled with the fact that I was having my church Life Group over for dinner that night, for which I needed a dessert, caused me to think quickly about a no-fuss dessert. Dutch Apple Pie took care of the remaining apples and came together quickly with the help of a store-bought pie crust.
I made the pie early in the day so I could check that one thing off my list and focus on dinner. After I took it out of the oven, it sat on the bar, a safe distance from Belle the Basset Hound, for the rest of the day. The crumble topping looked so good. I couldn’t wait to slice into it.
I just love it when fruit juices ooze over the side of the baking dish. I always look for that and delight in it when I see it.
I had to stretch this pie in order to get 8 servings. Slicing this pie into 8 pieces would result in skimpy pie servings. My friends deserve better than that. So, I scooped pie into some cute little green and white baking cups and place them on individual dessert plates.
Alongside that, I added a scoop of premium vanilla ice cream, a chocolate chip sweet potato cookie (from Sweet Potato Love), and raspberries. I didn’t snap a photo of the dessert plate but I was satisfied with the final result.
Homemade desserts are a special treat that folks genuinely enjoy. Well, that along with home cooking. Don’t stress over desserts. Get help from the store when you need it. I reach for store-bought pie crusts frequently. After all, the pie crust isn’t the star of the show. What matters the most is that your hands and heart got involved in cooking for folks.

Howdy Jackie, this sounds great. Question,…can you use APPLE PIE FILLING. If so, how do you adjust the recipe?
Thanks. HUD

I imagine you can use apple pie filling and add the crumbled topping. I’ve never tried it.
