Ingredients

  • 2 sweetpotatoes of similar size
  • Brown Sugar Cinnamon Butter

Instructions

  • Wash and scrub sweetpotato well. They're roots and can hold on to dirt and grit. Nothing will disrupt enjoyment of a good sweetpotato faster than biting into grit.
  • Dry and place on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Even though I prefer wrapping sweetpotatoes completely in foil prior to baking, I still recommend covering the baking sheet.  Juice from the sweetpotatoes can escape through small openings in the aluminum foil. The sugar content in sweetpotatoes will cause the juice to caramelize and eventually burn which makes it difficult to clean from baking dishes.
  • With a fork, pierce the sweetpotato several times. This allows steam to escape and keeps the sweetpotato from exploding in the oven.
  • Completely wrap in aluminum foil. Bake in a 400 degree preheated oven for 40 to 60 minutes or until soft.
  • Remove from oven and unwrap.
  • Split longwise.
  • Serve with brown sugar cinnamon butter.

Notes

In addition to Brown Sugar Cinnamon Butter, try toppings such as Southern Fried Apples , flaked sweetened coconut, sweetened dried cranberries, raisins, maple syrup, butter, brown sugar, cane syrup.
