Summer Shandy

Ingredients

  • Shandy
  • yield: 6 to 8 servings
  • A cool summertime adult beverage made from fresh squeezed lemonade and pale ale. Lemonade is made with a simple syrup of water and sugar and mixed with fresh lemon juice. Make lemonade ahead and let it chill. I chose Samuel Adams Summer Ale because its citrusy quality complements lemonade. Keep ale in refrigerator until ready to use. Summer Shandy is best consumed right away. It doesn't keep well.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 3 cups water
  • 3 12 ounce bottles pale ale (I used Samuel Adams Summer Ale), chill well before use

Instructions

  • Add sugar and one cup water to small saucepan. Heat until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and our into a large pitcher.
  • Add lemon juice and 3 cups of water. Stir. Place in refrigerator and thoroughly chill.
  • When ready to use, carefully pour ale into pitcher. Pour into ice filled glasses.
  • Serve immediately.
