Blackberry Bourbon Crush. Blackberries roasted with brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon slices and bourbon. The berries are crushed to make a syrup and used as a topping for ice cream, oatmeal, waffles, pancakes. Add to lemonade for blackberry lemonade.

Blackberry Bourbon Crush

Ingredients

  • Blackberry Bourbon Crush
  • preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • yield: approximately 2 cups
  • Whole blackberries roasted with cinnamon brown sugar, bourbon and lemon slices and crushed after cooking. Use as a topping for ice cream, oatmeal, pancakes and waffles. Stir some into lemonade. Adjust the amount of sugar according to your taste and the natural sweetness of the berries. The sauce thickens up some after it's cooled.
  • 6 cups blackberries
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • 1 5 inch cinnamon stick
  • 1 tablespoon bourbon

Instructions

  • Wash the blackberries and place them in an ovenproof baking dish. Sprinkle brown sugar over berries. Add lemon slices and cinnamon stick. Pour on bourbon. No need to stir.
  • Roast in a 400 degree oven for one hour.
  • Remove from oven and discard cinnamon stick and lemon slices.
  • Crush berries with a fork. Stir.
