I see what youre seeing. It isnt a bright red and it looks like actual peanuts to me. At the top of the fudge bars above the marshmallows but covered in chocolate. This is how my family and everyone i know makes it... with actual peanuts not just peanut butter. I can honestly say I've stared at this picture for much longer than what would probably be considered normal. It totally looks like actual peanuts even though the recipe doesnt have actual peanuts listed but thats just my opinion :)

For a festive touch, use the multi-colored marshmallows. I also add raisins, coconut, and salted cocktail peanuts. I let it set a little in the bowl and then pour it onto a sheet of plastic wrap with a touch of non-stick spray on it. Form it into a log, wrap tightly with the plastic wrap, store in the fridge. To serve, cut like salami. It is so pretty with the colored marshmallows. We call it "Cathedral Windows".

You can see in the picture that the marshmallows stay whole. They soften a little bit but don't melt. I made the recipe exactly as I typed it in the post. The picture was taken after the mixture chilled and hardened.
