Glenna,

If you are planning on smothering the steaks in the gravy, cook them for only a couple of minutes  on each side just until they are nicely browned.  Then, put them in the gravy and continue cooking.   If you&#039;re not going to put them back in the gravy.  Cook for about 4 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired degree of doneness.   Four minutes per side may not be the right amount for your stove.   They all cook at slightly different temperatures and the heat conduction is different according to the type skillet you use.   If the outside is browned and the steaks aren&#039;t as done as you would like them to be, cover the pan and cook for a few minutes more.  I don&#039;t mind mine being a tad pink in the middle but that&#039;s just my preference.    :)]]></description>
